This training will offer skills to help your staff feel empowered to authentically engage in a process of improving themselves, consequently serving others better. Program staff will be empowered with the core competencies needed to identify and meet individual and family needs. Consequently, the needs and interest of individuals, their families, and the broader community will be acknowledged and incorporated into your program’s service delivery approach.
Integration of the Family Strengthening Organizational Development model has a very impactful effect on how program staff view and execute their roles. Key aspects of the model are: its holistic systems approach that takes into account the individual, organizational structure, and specific environmental influences; its non-pathological approach to seeking solutions in the here and now; its behavioral focus on actions, enactments, competence, strengths, change of behavior patterns, and the transfer of concrete skills; and its use of reflective skills.
Training participants will increase their ability to facilitate culturally relevant enactments, communicate empowering directives, and offer positive recommendations. Participants will increase their ability to consistently key in on strengths and observation of “good” in behaviors, intentions, and processes. Participants will increase acknowledgment and acceptance of personal choices and values while neither fault-finding nor condoning the choices and values of others. Participants will practice a strength-based (non-pathological) thought process that monitors responses and readily finds opportunities to “join” positive and productive observations of good. As participants practice joining the strengths and good intentions of their staff, the staff will then better aid individuals served by your agency to recognize and acknowledge their own good. Consequently, individuals served will be empowered to utilize strengths and talents to bring about the change and adjustments necessary for sustained success. Youth, adults and families served by your agency will experience the positive effects of the Organizational Development by interacting with staff who are much more strengths-based, solution-oriented, and empowering.
